Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Nashua and Bedford, NH
The lower jaw bone is the only movable bone in the face and plays a central role in activities of daily life, including speaking, chewing and smiling. If the lower and upper jaw bones (mandible and maxilla) develop incorrectly, patients may experience difficulty with these crucial functions. These patients require a combination of corrective surgery to re-position the jaw bones, as well as orthodontic treatment to align the teeth. The improvements from these procedures are numerous, including enhanced breathing, chewing, and/or speaking.
The surgeons at Greene & Torio OMFS perform extensive pre-surgical planning to ensure precision with your surgery. This involves detailed photos, models of your teeth, and imaging to create virtual models to use for planning of the surgical movements. The procedure involves careful cuts in the jawbone and then repositioning and securing it with small screws to allow the bone to heal in its new planned position. The end goal is to improve facial appearance, provide proper dental alignment, and to improve breathing, eating and sleeping.
